Concept Prototype

Project Background

While at NYU, Oscar created The Helios Power Tree, a solar photovoltaic rechargeable solar tree that lights up at night to provide ambient light. The tree has an array of rechargeable batteries at its core that charge in the day time with the help of flexible solar PV cells that are installed like leaves on the branches. During optimum light, people can plug their devices into outlets available at the bottom of the tree trunk. The tree produces enough additional energy to charge two to four devices, while the tree charges it's batteries.
